Caring for those who care for others

Keep your passion for therapy burning strong

I’m Tori Prophet, and I’ve specially created this therapeutic space for therapists and mental healthcare providers, understanding deeply the unique challenges we face in our profession. Here, we can talk shop, yes, but we can also simply talk.

As a therapist, you’re dedicated to holding space for others, but when was the last time someone held space for you? Therapy for therapists is a safe, understanding environment where you can process your emotions, reconnect with your purpose, and rediscover the joy that brought you to this field. This is your time to focus on you—because your well-being matters, too.

Understanding the Pressures of Caring for Others

The challenges of being a therapist

Compassion fatigue, burnout, boundary struggles—the emotional labor of being a therapist can take a toll over time. It’s easy to pour so much into your clients that you feel drained or disconnected from your own needs. You’re not just a therapist; you’re human, and it’s okay to acknowledge when you’re carrying too much. Therapy can help you unpack these challenges and find a path forward.

The cost of ignoring your self-care

Research shows that high levels of stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout are common in mental health professionals who overlook their well-being.

Therapists often put their clients first, but neglecting your own self-care can lead to serious consequences. Over time, this can diminish your ability to connect with clients, reduce job satisfaction, and even impact your personal life. When you invest in yourself, you not only feel more balanced and energized, but you also bring a renewed sense of clarity and empathy to your practice. Prioritizing your own care allows you to show up as your best self, both for your clients and in your life outside of work.

Therapists Need to Prioritize Their Mental Health

A Collaborative and Empowering Process

Using approaches like Brainspotting or mindfulness-based practices, we’ll work together to help you find clarity, relief, and renewed energy.

Questions for therapists seeking therapy

Find answers to common questions therapists have about seeking therapy for themselves.

Personal therapy offers you a confidential space to process your own feelings and experiences without the overlay of your professional responsibilities. It helps prevent burnout, improves personal well-being, and enhances your empathic abilities in your own practice.

Absolutely! Therapy provides a space for growth, self-discovery, and maintenance of your well-being, regardless of your current state. It’s about enriching your life and practice proactively.

I have created a space tailored to address the unique challenges and experiences of those in the caring professions. It leverages an understanding of clinical work, vicarious trauma, countertransference, and the emotional toll of our practice.

While self-awareness and coping strategies are part of our training, having a dedicated space to unravel and process our experiences with a skilled professional is both normal and helpful. We can’t always be our own therapist.

I describe my therapeutic approach as a collaborative, attachment-focused process, primarily using modalities such as Brainspotting, IFS parts work, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Throughout the session, I am highly attuned to your emotional experience and always welcome feedback regarding the feel and direction of our session. Often, I will suggest journaling, bibliotherapy, and other exercises for deepening thoughtful reflection.
